A 17th Century Carved Oak and Polychrome Chest.

This joined oak chest is elaborately carved with a three panel front with botanical motifs and numerous other structural and ornamental traits comparable to the documented practices of the Thomas Dennis workshop based at Ottery St Mary Exeter.

The front panels all showing heavy traces of original red polychrome and the side rail is dated IC 1678 also showing traces of red polychrome.

In good order still retaining its wire hinges and internal till.
