Carved depicting St.John the evangelist with wine cup in hand.

According to legend, John the Evangelist was given a cup of poisoned wine that he drank without harm. As emblems of the tale, John's chalice symbolizes the Christian faith prevailing over death, signified by the serpent.

A fun carving of John with a soft face and good features and deep folds to his robe.

In good condition with a mellow colour and natural surface .
