A Pair Of Charles II Carved Oak Panels Dated 1666.

English 1666

This wonderful rare pair of panels are formerly cupboard or wall press doors, each carved with stylised cornflowers, roses and strawberrys on a stipple ground bordered by punch work, one door carved '1666', the other carved with the initials 'TD' and branded 'TM', with green paint to the reverse of each.

Provenance:

Sothebys The Oak and Country Sale 26th April 2005 lot 96 where they were purchased by Toby Jellinek for an American client for £6500.

They are also  from the same hand as two documented chairs that have sold at auction..

These panels have the best colour and surface they are the freshly opened conker colour and shine the dated panel has a crack top to bottom that has been historically braced behind.
