An Unusual Mid-17th Century Boarded Oak Desk Box.

English Circa 1640.

With moulded hinged lid above a lunette carved front frieze with iron lockplate and under drawer on sledge feet.

Probably west country of boarded construction with exquisite carving of the finest detail.

Good colour and surface with traces of polychrome to the carving,hinges replaced.

It is rare to find boxes with drawers of this period on sledge feet.
