A Fine Pair Of  Elizabethan Wyvern Panels.

English Circa 1580

A chunky pair of panels depicting a pair of Wyverns touching tails and a pair of  pronouced arched flower buds.

These once sat high as a frieze on the Landing outside the Haunted Bedroom at Littlecote House , Hungerford, Berkshire, England.

The ghost of Mother Barnes a midwife employed in 1575 is alleged to sit in the corner of the room with a crying baby .

Littlecote House is a large Elizabethan Country House owned in the 16th century by the Darrell Family the Grandparents of Jane Seymour and Henry VIII,James I,Charles II and William Of Orange have all stayed there,now it is a hotel and leisure centre.

The last image shows the landing with panelling to include these wyverns and flower buds.

In good condition with deep bold carving.
