A Pair OF 17th Century Carved Oak Corbels.

This early 17th century pair of French oak corbels will either shock you or make you smile.
One is carved depicting a minstrel playing a lute and the other depicts a naked man with a fine hair cut wiping his backside with his hand.
Rude carvings are rare and there are example found in churches such as
The reclining nude man, nicknamed Seamus O'Toole, carved in the rafters at All Saints Church in Hereford and The nude nun in Hereford cathedral and the saucy carvings known as Satan in the groin.

In good solid condition with a nice dark patina and surface showing signs of old insect damage.
