English circa 1640

Recently acquired from an East Sussex farm house this Carved oak chest is of small proportions.

Of joined construction the single plank lid over twin panels carved with a single flower, the top and bottom rail with lunette carving the stiles carved with a rope twist design .

Very good colour and patina,the hinges are period replacements and there is an aged split to the lid .

A good strong chest with a wonderful colour and size.
