A Gothic Oak And Ironbound Box.

An early 16th century oak and ironbound box still retaining its original yellow paint with patches of oak peeping through in places.

Of board and pegged construction with iron straps with fish tail ends to each corner and strap hinges that go over the top down the back and underneath to the base.

A dramatis lockplate with staple fixing and decorated S scroll encasing the key hole ,unfortunately the hasp has gone and a part is missing from the back of the hasp strap that is nailed to the top,but the handle is still working strong.

A castle chic box with a crusty skin and surface .
