A 17th Century Carved Oak Bible Box.

English Circa 1640

Of boarded construction the front with a pair of carved lunettes which have only been completed fully to the facing front left hand side, is this a message or is it because the carver gave up and went home early.

Of good colour and in good order the snipe hinges have long gone being replaced with associated butterfly hinges.

Original lockplate and extra security with a chain that would have been padlocked.
