English circa 1620

This wonderful box is of a simple design and of small proportions.

The front carved with a pair of lunettes flanking the lockplate the sides with a scratch carved border constructed from riven oak in original condition .

Good colour and patina,the interior lined with hand painted Georgian wall paper depicting birds on branches.

I have a weakness for boxes and it is such a joy to find a small example.
