A Early 17th Century Oak Church Chest with Twin Locks.

An interesting chest of transitional construction.

The two plank lid with an applied moulding to give the impression of a three panel lid over the front of joined construction with three plain panels and spandrels to each internal corner, twin locks and hasps,the sides and back of boarded construction.

Inside with its original candlebox and retaining all original ironwork.

A substanial chest built with the purpose of keeping special items safe commissioned for a church or council building.

A good colour and patina retaining full height and totally original condition.
