A Henry VIII Carved Oak Linenfold Chest.

England Circa 1530 

The three panel top over a front carved with three multifold linenfold panels ,the middle panel being shorter to accomodate the lockplate ,the sides with twin plain linenfold panels .

Of small size this chest is in good order with a natural surface and i can guarantee it has not seen a coat of wax in at least 20 years  ,retaining its original height and snipe hinges the candlebox and lid are also present.

The lid has a crack to the middle panel but does not move ,the back showing traces of original blue paint and the lockplate is a period replacement.

Purchased from a house in East Sussex around 15years ago when i sold it to a good collector friend local to me ,i was then fortunate enough to get it back and have it in my own collection for awhile and am now moving it on for the purpose of  buying another piece .

A great chest that i am sad to pass on but glad to have had in my collection.
