SORRY SOLD

A 16th Century Oak and Ironbound Chest.

English circa 1560

Constructed from thick oak planks with twin iron straps to the sides and under the base all terminating at the front in a fish tail design ,the planked lid with big hinges and a pierced hasp to each end to hold a padlock .

A chunky early chest with that church look dry colour and surface we all look for .

In good condition and very stable and solid ,the front left hand foot has been off at some stage and simply been put back on,a strip has been replaced to the front of the lid between the hasps and the front of the facing right hasp is missing.

Recently purchased from a Dorset collector who has finally listened to his wife and agreed that if a new friend comes in the house then an old friend must leave.
