A Small 17th Century Carved Oak Bible Box.

This small box is carved to the front with flower heads flanking the lockplate with a guilloche band beneath.

Single plank lid and plain sides.

Later hinges and two small repairs to the base ,this box has not been waxed in a long time and is presented with a dry surface.

A label inside dating 162? Referring to the East India Company and a £4000 loan

Amazingly for the amount of boxes made in this period small examples rarely turn up .
