A Late 16th Century Oak Boarded Chest.

A great find this six plank chest which is in dry untouched condition comes from a deceased estate in Kent where it has been situated in a farmhouse for the past 60 years.

Of six plank construction held together with large rosehead nails the waisted sides with cut out feet ,the lid with triple moulded front and back border,the front board with two lockplates and the interior with two compartments.

Possibly a church or council chest .

As i say this chest still comes with dust as its a joy to find one totally untouched retaining full height and iron work .
