Dorset circa 1640

The front carved with a simple lunette flanking the central lockplate and plain sides.

The lid which has a lunette scribe border and internal carved lozegene which at first you would feel is later but retains original hasp and hinges showing original oxidisation and the internal wood colour is all the same,i feel it was a choice made when commissioned.

Boxes of this size although made in quantity are extremely hard to find and rarely come up for sale.

A great little box for the obsessed chest collector with limited space.
