A Pair Of 16th Century Oak Profile Panels.

This wonderful pair of  panels are of the highest order.

Depicting a male profile in a roundel above St.John with chalice and snake in hand within a chain arch ,the other a female profile in a roundel above an Angel holding a shield with a central chalice over bordered Gothic script : I~Dubreil which i feel is the donor name for the chest.

The surname Dubreil was first found in Bourbonnais, a historic province in the centre of France, now part of the modern département of Allier and Cher where this distinguished family held a family seat in the seigneurie of Dubreuil in the diocese of Nevers..

Angel ,saint,script and profiles these panels certainly tick all the boxes.
