SORRY SOLD

An unusual set of three 16th century French oak panels carved with beasts and a central armorial design.

From the hands of an imaginative carver these panels that originated in a chest are carved with a central panel that depicts a pair of Hares jumping beneath a central shield flanked by lions with one hare standing on a dog flanked by panels right and left of a dragon with curled tail sprouting foliage from their mouths with a female head to the top and side.

Very vivid designs that make them so appealing they have good colour and surface but as with French panels they show signs of old worm which can be seen at the back and the hairy dragon has nibbles to ones side and corner but that has gone and they are solid.
