A Rare Early 15th Century Carved Stone Lion.

This is one of those rare items that i just had to have ,when i first saw it i knew it would be mine and thankfully it is and what a joy it is to handle.

Carved from stone this lion is lying down in an elongated position with skinny front legs stretched out his face looking forward with actual teeth showing ,his expression almost that of a bear or dog and with traces of polychrome to his mane and eyes.

An internal piece that probably came from the foot of a tomb a guardian for the deceased.

In good condition ,his front right leg has snapped off at some stage and has been crudely put back on (thankfully) he has a nice patina and displays very well.
