A Rare 15th Century Gothic Oak Chest.

France circa 1450.

The front carved to a high standard with Gothic church window design flanking an ornate lockplate of simple board and dovetail construction ,the sides with original carrying handles and branded with a cross and large initials P.P this could possibly be a monastic mark ,the thin plank top with original iron strap hinges also has the initials H I B duplicated six times on it and resing on sledge feet.

Presented with a dry natural surface overall in very good condition for its age and baring in mind it is constructed with thin baltic timber it is a sturdy solid chest,one of the base boards has been replaced in the past 100 yrs and the lid has two small patch fills where the lock sits.
