A Wonderful And Rare Carved Oak Lion Panel.

This Mid 17th century panel is one of the best i have found to date and carved to the highest standards.

Carved in oak this ferocious chap has a curly mane with knotted ears a furrowed brow hypnotic eyes and a mouth ready to take a bite at who ever trys to stroke him .

The detail is realistic and carved by somebody who knew the features of a dog as although this is a lion it has the features of a Spaniel a fashionable dog in the period that this panel was carved.

In good order with original yellow and red paint in a later oak frame.
