A 15th Century Gothic Leather And Iron Bound Casket.

A gothic casket with boiled and engraved leather on a wooden carcass with wrought iron mounts.

Amazingly this little casket has its purchase receipt from the great late S.W.Wolsey dated 22nd July 1959.

Samuel Wolsey was a specialist dealer in early furniture based in London and sold pieces to Museums and institutions round the world and formed fine complete collections to the like of Peter Gwynn ,The oak house West Bromwich and Halls Croft Stratford to name but a few ,he also collaborated with R.W.P.Luff in 1968 to write the book The Age Of The Joiner with all images being items he had the pleasure to handle.
