A Rare Late 17th Century Oak Joint Stool.

A Rare example in that this example has an inlaid Frieze rail of holly, bog oak and boxwood .

Plain turned legs united by a box stretcer.

With a good colour and patina the top has an ink stain and split and one foot has been retipped and veneered to the outside block so you can only see this from the inside its a very clever repair.

I have only seen two other inlaid examples in the past 15yrs, this example was purchased from Bonhams Chester Oak Furniture sale 15th Jan 2004 as lot 77 and sold for £1762 inc premium.
