An 18th Century Shepherds Chair.

This wonderful joined country chair is constructed in Ash and oak with enclosed sides and front.

Ex Elton.M.Hyder Jr Collection Texan Lawyer and Philanthropist .

Circa 1770

A rare form with a pierced top rail over a steeply raked panelled back with thick slightly curved arms, enclosed sides ,a rope seat with associated cushion united by plain strechers the front fully enclosed with a large burn hole just under the seat ,how this got there is a mystery as the burn has gone right through leaving a hole that could not be a candle burn maybe its from a splint holder that was too close one cold evening .

A wonderful country colour and patina .
