A Pair Of Carved Stone Grotesque Corbels

A good pair of 18th Century carved stone corbels depicting grotesque heads with scrolled capitals.

One depicting a monk with hideous nose and protruding tongue the other a long faced man.

By repute these were removed from a fire place in Cornwall in the 19th Century.

In good condition the monk has his tongue refixed and has loses to his chin .

Mounted on 19th century oak shields..
