A Late 18th Century Irish Primitive Chair.

One of my favourite recent purchases ,this chair has such a simple presence with a huge slab seat and has been used regulary throughout its lifetime.

Although simple in design it has been made by a skilled hand and is probably a true Famine chair.

Constructed with a hugh elm slab seat , ash and fruitwood rails and still retaining traces of original paint.

It has a story to tell with tipped feet to the right hand side ,a front stretcher that is only just holding together and the ends of the arms have been moulded with filler.

This may all sound off putting but believe me without this it would just be a chair but with these repairs it makes it a chair that ouses character ..

21.5" (54cm) Wide

19.5" (50cm) Deep

14" (36cm) High to the seat

35" (89cm) High to the back

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder....
