An Early 17th Century Carved Oak Coffer

With a good strong stance .

Carved to the front with twin panels with a guilloche quatrefoil with central flower heads ,lunette carved top rail with guilloche border stiles,the sides again with a lunette top rail and guilloche bottom rail ,plain stiles and single panel with a horizontal lozenge with central flower head.

The lunettes have a nice heart motif running along the top rails which possibly represent a marriage gift .

Twin panel lid with later hinges and the back and left hand side have been braced.

Good colour and deep carving constructed with heavy timber with a strong stance and sharp presence retaining its full height.
