A Rare Pair Of 16th Century Carved Oak Panels

Circa 1510 

Depicting two humorous gentlemen one seated holding a staff across his body with a gurning expression on his face with hair flicked to each side under his hat,the other with a beaker to his mouth and tappit-hen in hand as he has one more for the road.

Well executed with very deep carving and lots of character. Good colour and condition the crouching gent has a small infill to his right hand.

Provenance: From the Collection of Dr. Woody Cobbs and Mrs. Honor Cobbs, Atlanta, Georgia.
