Four Henry VIII Period Panels Depicting Fish Wyverns

Circa 1540

This wonderful set of four Tudor oak panels depict two fish wyverns and two swirls all deeply carved with a good patina and surface.

It is rare to find the wyvern depicted as a fish as they are usually carved as a dragon.

This is a typical design found in the West County wyverns or dragons are found on furniture and wall panelling and these four would have originally been part of a coffer or cupoard.

A joy to find a complete set of four that have managed to stay together for so long.

In good condition with good colour and patina ,age cracks and traces of old worm .

I also have another set of four panels from the same workshop listed depicting a romayne profile and dragons.
