A Rare 15th Century Leather And Iron Bound Missal Box.

Possibly field maple covered in leather with iron straps running vertically with lock plate to the front and sides with carrying loops.

A missal box was used to hold A book containing all the prayers and responses necessary for celebrating the Mass throughout the year.

This rare example has traces of old insect holes and loses to the iron work to the base.

Good colour to the leather and iron and for its size an honorable survivour.
