SORRY SOLD

Early 18th Century Welsh Dresser.

Of small proportions and with the best colour.

Recently aquired from a private house where it has been for the past 30 years.

The boarded rack with three shelves over the base with a stepped shelf to the back, three drawers all with burred oak fronts over a deep ogee-arched apron ,the six legs all with chamfered edges and the pot board raised clear of the ground by tall bracket feet. .

Originating from the Towy Valley,Camarthenshire,a similar dresser wih identical chamfered legs and high pot board is illustrated in Richard Bebb Welsh Furniture 1250-1950 volume 2 page 133 fig 891 .

Here he mentions that the finer dressers with inlay and burr are associated with this wealthier region due to the income from the markets for agricultural produce.

Of small width the dimensions are

58" Wide

80" High

17" Deep

In good condition, with the best natural colour and patina.

The cup hooks and handles are period replacements and three of the cut out bracket feet and one of the rack rests have been restored.

A good dresser that will not dissapoint ,please get in touch for further images so you can see more of this quality dresser.
