Elizabethan english oak wainscot chair circa 1560

The low back with plain back panel over elm seat.

The squat solid arms which are dovetailed into the side rails with scratch design of circles and lines.

Solid heavy back legs with moulded edge,the front of turned design.

The right hand side stretcher is replaced due to fire damage,with signs to the front and rear leg,under the sat and under the right arm,i presume it was on the hearth and a little close one evening also braced with two iron rods.

A rare chair all the same.
