A rare example of an early 17th century oak boarded lace box of triangular form that was Exhibited as catalogue no 23 at the BADA Exhibition The Craft Of The Boxmaker Of Renaissance England July 1978 ,this exhibition was held by Crispin at Holywell Hill ,St Albans Hertfordshire to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of The British Antique Dealers Association,a copy of the catalogue will be provided with the sale of this delightful box.

The sides decorated with delicate scratch lozenges and herringbones ,the front with a simple diamond  shaped escutcheon

The construction of this box is of thin riven boards so i presume it was made for lace or possibly a hat as it was not built for weight.

Fantastic  surface ,with natural deep colour to the sides.

This is a rare example ,the first i have personaly had the pleasure to own .
